...but will it include an ice rink ?
According to an article in the Essex Chronicle dated 21/09/06, Chelmsford Borough Council have future plans for a new leisure facility in Chelmsford to replace the ageing Riverside ice & leisure.Plans to demolish the existing council offices, Civic theatre and Cramphorn theatre and replace them with a 2000 seat performing arts centre and a major new sports complex are, apparently, nearing completion, however, there is no mention of whether this would include an ice rink.More details on this have been promised for the next issue of the Chronicle. |

| You really have got far too much on your hands!!!! If it states they are going to replace Riverside building do you not think they will do just that? Have they said they will replace the swimming pool, squash courts and every other facility under the roof of Riverside. What is it you are trying to say. Makes me wonder what someone like yuo would do with no ice hockey and being able to comment negatively all the time. Do me and all the supporters of Chelmsford Chieftain GET A LIFE!!!! |

Clare a little bit Harsh on Alan. I don't think he was being negative or trying to stir at all. I think he was asking a genuine question.
Remember there are not that many leisure centres in the country that have ice rinks too and i suppose Alan is concerned as all hockey fans should be as to whether local councils feel the need to provide one. Apart from hockey does any one know if the rink pays for its up keep with public sessions etc?? |

| As with all the facilities there are busy sessions and quiet ones but from my conversations with the people there it appears they would not be that bothered, financially, if hockey were not there as the busy public sessions make them far more money (even if the early patch sessions are a little quieter to say the least!!). |

| Are you saying that the Bar and Cafe make the centre more money on public sessions than on a well supported Chieftains home game? |

Claire, hockey IS my life and has been for the last 20 years, hence, I'm concerned if we loose the ice rink. Thought YOU could have been a bit more constructive though. |

The council had many options for Riverside the main 2 being either move it and rebuild, moving to Boreham (near the A12) or keep it where it is and put money into it to make it better! The last i heard the latter was in favour as it would be more beneficial to stay where it is and build it up! so whatever happens there will still be an ice rink in Chelmsford! p.s Claire, you really have a problem with Alan don't you! Either talk to him in person or keep your opinions to yourself coz i no i am and probly most other people on here are fed up with you rambling on about YOUR issue with Alan! |

| Well having read todays chronicle it does appear CBC'S redevelopment plans do include an ice rink. The latest proposal appears to be a plan to redevlop the civic centre in Duke Street and turn it into a modern regional hub that will contain a new ice rink along with swimming pool and threatre. |
Goodbye for good this time i think! |

Hi Rich25
Glad you could make it last night and hope that we see you again. We are always trying to make ourselves better known. What sort of places do you think we could advertise in to get to people like yourself who live in the area but haven't heard much about the Chieftains?

| For Some reason the game really has never got the publicity it deserves in Chelmsford but keep up games like Sunday and the crowds will be back. I can remember being at games stood three deep behind the goals in the old days against Invicta(Medway Bears as they were) and Romford with the opposition fans in their hundreds. One thing that puts some off coming back are the facilities. My wife tells me the ladies loos are not great and if the mens are anything to go by I know what she means !! A new facility with banked seating would improve the atmosphere (and the view by the way) but nothing comapres to a full house. And for puckwot we could have a whole bank of vending machines to choose from. |
